Poem: ReUnion

Despite the proximity.

Because of the distance.

Unity is within us.

We find it within ourselves.

Despite our differences.

Because of our similarities.

We belong together.

Wherever we might be.

Despite our beliefs.

Because of our heritage.

United while separate.

Reunited around the same table.

Despite our preferences.

Because of our love.

Sharing bread and wine.

Reunited to remember.

Despite who we are.

Because of who we are.

Finding common ground.

Ventilating our differences.

Despite our disagreements.

Because of our agreement to disagree.

Empathy gives space to others.

We meet in such space of grace.

Despite our past.

Because of our future.

Bringing our selves together.

Sharing who we are.

Despite and because of.

Whatever it takes.

We shall meet again.

Here or there.

Whatever united us keeps us together.

Here, there and everywhere.

Until we reunite again.

Here or there.
